LCME – Jazz Piano
Northwood offers the London College of Music Examinations (LCME) Jazz Piano Certification. LCME (UK) is a full suite of piano qualifications from preliminary levels all the way to Diploma. LCME is unique in the graded exam sector as it is awarded by a UK university. Also, credit points are given to you should you want to enrol in a UK university via the UCAS application.
Our Jazz Piano certification offers a variety of options for the candidate, such as Full Grades, Recital Grades, Performance Awards, etc. – once again, this is to cater to different interests and abilities of the candidate.
Is Jazz suitable for my child?
Children who love the genre of Jazz and are by nature, creative and experimental in their approach to music. They may even be students who learnt Classical music but became bored of it and prefer to improvise instead. Some signs you should look out for :
-My child doesn’t like to follow notes on the score
-My child prefers to improvise and create new things on the piano
-My child likes to listen to Jazz music.
-My child is bored of Classical piano and is not willing to practise the exam songs, but rather play ‘outside’ pieces.
At Northwood, each child is assessed carefully in order to see which board is best suitable -based on his/her abilities and interests, whether be it Jazz, Classical, Rock, Pop, and anything in between. This way, there is much greater sustainability of learning in the long run.
