Eric Lee, Founder, Northwood Music.
Eric holds a B.A. (Hons), PGDE(Distinction), A.Dip.A. (1st Class Honours) and is a multiple-award winner and educator in both the academic teaching field as well as in the aesthetics arena. He was the former Head of Department for Student Development at Raffles Junior College,
awarded Distinction for Teaching Excellence in the Post Graduate Diploma of Education, awarded patron name of the Merrill Presidential Scholarship by Cornell University (US) in recognition of ‘Best High School Teacher’.
He was awarded the First Prize in the Inter-JC-Ednovation Competition on Innovation and Enterprise, and has taught at top state sixth-form college at Cambridge, UK. He was also overall Champion of the Taiwan Young Stars Music Competition, sweeping all awards including ‘Overall Champion’, ‘Best Arrangement’, ‘Best Composition’, ‘Honourable Mention’. Eric was nominated for the Singapore President Teachers Award, the highest accolade in Singapore for overall excellence in teaching, subject mastery and nurturing the whole child.
Together with his team, Eric strongly believes that the core of good teaching comes from good teachers with sound pedagogy, well-rounded skills and a warm and relational touch that will nurture every talent based on an ability-driven educational approach.
As founder of Music Improvisation Collective (M.I.C.),Eric and his team strongly believes in a strong, community-based approach dedicated to the nurturing, research and education of music improvisation and has conducted numerous workshops, clinics, performances, etc. throughout Singapore, including ‘Jazz for Curious Listeners’ Series, Jazz for You and Me, Jazz@AMK, Jazz@Punggol, Jazz@Pasir Ris, Jazz@Toa Payoh, Pop Band Improvisation Mentorship Programme Series, Jazz@Kallang, Jazz@Yishun, etc.
